“As a partially sighted person the coaches have made me feel very welcome and made everything accessible”

Bex Kenton

Bex Kenton

As a partially sighted person, before joining CrossFit Uckfield, I used to be a regular gym user to help with isolation and to keep active but because of a lack of accessibility and staff to help, over time workouts became repetitive and unmotivating.  I needed a new challenge. After a year of not much physical exercise I discovered CrossFit Uckfield and decided to go for an intro.

Since I started crossFit, the coaches have made me feel very welcome and made everything accessible from talking timers and talking whiteboards to bright tape on the edges of certain things that may be a hazard and verbally describing how to do a movement or activity. Not only have the coaches been great, the members have also been supportive and are always positive. This makes every session (as hard as they can be) fun.

What I enjoy is that every session is different; there is always a new challenge and with no judgement or negativity, surrounded by people of all ages, levels of fitness and ability, I feel I finally fit in somewhere and it makes me want to keep going to see how far I can push myself.

“CrossFit makes me proud of my gender. It promotes such a positive attitude towards female fitness.”

Aimee Arthur

The first thing I noticed at crossFit Uckfield was the complete lack of judgement in a class setting. I don’t have a particularly sporty physique and work in an industry that often requires me to indulge in too much food and wine! In a normal gym environment, I would often feel very aware of my body, my ability and how I must look to others. However, CrossFit’s attitude to fitness, particularly as a woman, I find immensely refreshing.

Crossfit Uckfield is a very friendly, non-intimidating gym to go to. With great programming and well structured lessons, sessions are always varied and never boring. There is something for everyone at any level and the sessions get results for all.  Great attention is paid to individual needs, and goals, with helpful, fun, approachable coaches that are always willing to give up their time to give that extra when and where they can; you are never left feeling on your own.
